HIII GUYS!!!!
today, i’m just yapping about gilmore girls again, because you guys love it so much :) it was also requested by a subscriber!!
okok we all know gilmore girls couldn’t be gilmore girls without the rants and talks and speeches from all of our favorite characters. so i decided to talk about one of my top favorite speeches from the show…
rory’s chilton graduation speech!
the whole basis of the speech was the theme of “it takes a village to raise a child” and made everyone cry, EVEN LUKE. (“oh luke, you old softie”)
another aspect i really loved is when she talks about she lives in two worlds. a world filled with books, alongside all the characters, and another world, where every person is someone new who she looks up to. she talks about emily and richard, how they helped her get into school. she also talks about lorelai.
“But my ultimate inspiration comes from my best friend, the dazzling woman from whom I received my name and my life’s blood, Lorelai Gilmore. My mother never gave me any idea that I couldn’t do whatever I wanted to do or be whomever I wanted to be. She filled our house with love and fun and books and music, unflagging in her efforts to give me role models from Jane Austen to Eudora Welty to Patti Smith. As she guided me through these incredible eighteen years, I don’t know if she ever realized that the person I most wanted to be was her. Thank you, Mom: you are my guidepost for everything.”
i loved this so much. every single time i watch it, without fail, i always tear up. their bonding moments, and of course, the iconic graduation poses, is something i will always remember.
though there are some plots in the show that are wild, this one wasn’t. it hits the right spot, and was the perfect ending to her high school journey! :)
